The A’s opened scoring on a sacrifice fly by Jed Lowrie, scoring in Billy Burns in the first inning. Carlos Rodon, the southpaw pitcher for the White Sox, did his best to limit the damage, but allowed an addition run in a Mark Canha home run in the second inning which decided the match. Both pitchers went seven innings in this thrilling pitching duel.

Additionally, the A’s and their fans were forced yet again to listen to Hawk Harrelson’s homer broadcast. During the Canha home run, a no-doubter to the right field bleachers, Harrelson exclaimed: “Canha, right field. That’s a can of corn. Outta here.” Was he trying to make a pun on Canha’s name? Or was he trying to pretend that the ball wouldn’t leave the ballpark, to keep Sox fans’ engaged? Regardless, Hawk Harrelson will be replaced tomorrow on CSN California by the A’s normal broadcast team, and fans can say about Hawk Harrelson that “he gone” from the Bay Area broadcast.
