In 2014 the Oakland Athletics featured a number of quality contributors to the fantasy baseball cause.

Josh Donaldson finished 45th on ESPN.com’s player rater. Brandon Moss was a top-20 first baseman and was a top-50 outfielder along with Coco Crisp. Sonny Gray and Scott Kazmir finished in the top-35 starting pitchers and Sean Doolittle placed 21st among relief pitchers.

With Donaldson and Moss being traded out of Oakland and losing Yoenis Cespedes, Jon Lester, and Jeff Samardzija, who all finished as top-90 players, after a half-season each, Oakland’s fantasy value took a big hit.

However, there remains several players to covet, despite their lack of name value, but because of their buy-low value.

This is the first in a three-part series on fantasy-relevant Oakland Athletics.

I am going to start with Oakland’s bread and butter: Pitching.
