Five Defining Moments of Athletics’ 2014 Season

2012 was a fairy tale year for the Oakland Athletics. The underdogs from the get-go, they clinched the division in the final game of the season after overcoming a five game deficit in the final 10 days. It was magic, there was rejoicing and there was the first defeat at the hands of the Detroit Tigers.

2013 was an exciting year filled with walk-off wins, lights out pitching and right field raging. The Athletics clinched their second consecutive division title a week early and ended the season five games over their nearest competitor, missing the best record in baseball by a single game. It was magic, there was rejoicing and there was a second defeat at the hands of the Detroit Tigers.
2014 was the year we were all in. Trades had been made, the run differential went through the roof, the whole team went to the all star game and the Athletics were going to the world series to take it all until it all fell apart and they limped into the post season with the second wildcard spot. It was torture, there was frustration and it may all come down to a wild card game.
