This shouldn’t come as breaking news, but Stephen Vogt has a sense of humor. What you may not have heard is that Vogt rolled his ankle in Wednesday’s series finale with the Seattle Mariners, spraining his left ankle. Vogt told us after the game that he received X-Rays and they came back negative.
Stephen Vogt’s account of how this injury occurred, “Obviously, I’m trying to break up the double play. Robinson Cano had some fancy footwork, and kind of tricked me in what way he was going. I changed directions last second and kind of clicked my toes on the ground as I was going in, just kind of rolled the ankle over.”

After this tale, Vogt added, “[Cano] didn’t turn the double play, so I guess it worked.”
Vogt, already dealing with a right foot injury, injured his left ankle during the game. When asked about this, Vogt replied, “I’ll be walking even now [laughs]. That’s just the way I’m looking at it, no more limp.”
Vogt added that he hopes to be back in a couple of days.
When asked about the past two games, facing James Paxton and Felix Hernandez, Vogt gave his take, “You look at [these games] like you look at anything. One run games. Every game we’re right in there. We just have to figure out how to score one more than the other team….our pitching is keeping us in games, we’ll figure out a way to score more runs.
With the Angels also taking a loss Wednesday, the Athletics still sit 4.5 games back in the AL West, with the A’s enjoying an off-day on Thursday. The Angels travel to Minnesota to start a four-game set with the Twins. The A’s open up a three-game series with the Houston Astros on Friday night at the Coliseum.
