When it comes to baseball teams having fun in the clubhouse or during batting practice, there is little the players won’t do. And I mean little. There are stories about the weird things that go down all over the place and I won’t get into details.
But during a 162-game season that spans over half a year, what would you expect? Sometimes the team is struggling and needs a pick-me-up or just something to loosen everyone up. And sometimes, even if the team like the A’s are leading the MLB, a laugh won’t hurt anything.
The A’s have been known to have plenty of jokesters, especially with the recent re-addition of Jonny Gomes. Well, today on Intentional Talk, Gomes introduced Stephen Vogt, professional basketball referee, to the world. As Vogt did his best Joey Crawford, rendition, Chris Rose and Kevin Millar, the hosts of the show, and Gomes were in a mass hysteria.
So, without further ado, here is the video:
Although Vogt had been in a dry-spell, going 0 for his last 23, prior to the bomb two-run shot he hit earlier in tonight’s 3-0 win, it’s good to see him having some fun. The stresses of a season can be tough, and for someone like Vogt, who had to earn his spot back on the A’s roster this season, nothing is guaranteed.
But this is just one more reason to believe in Stephen Vogt.
