The Oakland Athletics will be holding their 15th annual Root Beer Float day on Wednesday, July 23rd before the game at 7pm. Typically, Root Beer Float day is held before a day game, but this year the A’s are switching it up a bit with a later start time. The event starts at 5:05 and runs until first pitch.

The details are nice to have, but who will be there? Glad you asked! Former Athletics David Justice and Jose Canseco will be in attendance, as well as Biz Markie. Markie is best known for his hit “Just a Friend”, but is also a terrific beatboxer. Biz Markie will also be throwing out the ceremonial first pitch before the start of the game.

The A’s players that have been announced are Fernando Abad, Ryan Cook, Sean Doolittle, Sonny Gray, Scott Kazmir, Jed Lowrie, Dan Otero, Jeff Samardzija, Eric Sogard and Stephen Vogt.

Along with the players, coaches Bob Melvin, Chip Hale and Tye Waller will also be serving the prized Root Beer Floats.

In addition to the celebrities, coaches and players, there are usually some local personalities in the mix. The Oakland Raiders typically have a representative, as well as local radio and television personalities.

From experience, there will be a lot of people in attendance for Root Beer Float Day. Make sure you arrive early! This is a charitable event, so come thirsty.
