Hey Orioles fans, sorry about Matt Wieters. Unfortunately, someone has to catch the All-Star game in his place though, right? How about Derek Norris?

Derek Norris has taken the lead in All-Star voting over Brian McCann by about 150,000 votes. That’s the good news. The bad news is, the Athletics won’t be home until July 3rd, so A’s fans won’t be able to stuff the ballot boxes like we have been.

Here is where Orioles’ fans come in. Baltimore is at home during that same stretch, and Brian McCann is a rival of yours. There is no need to vote a Yankee in is there? Go ahead and remember the 1996 ALCS real quick. I’ll wait.

Need a little more convincing? How about Manny Machado hitting Derek Norris with his backswing twice and then smirking about it? Or Machado throwing his bat down the 3rd base line? I’m not saying that Orioles fans need to make amends, or that you owe us or anything, but it would be a very nice gesture.

If you’re into it, why not throw a couple of votes in the direction of Yoenis Cespedes as well. You get to vote for 3 outfielders, so Adam Jones can still be a part of your ballot, no problem! Again, there are two AL East division rivals in play here. Both Jose Bautista and Melky Cabrera are slated to start the game. Let’s all make sure that doesn’t happen.
