Evan Scribner became the the odd-man out for the Athletics when they added Brad Mills to the 25-man roster for tonight’s start. For Scribner, baseball life must feel like the Law of Gravity: what goes up, must come down.

Scribner was brought up earlier this week to bolster the bullpen, if the need for an extra arm arose. The insurance blanket was nice to have, saving the bullpen for tonight’s game if Brad Mills pitches like he has in his stints in the majors, opposed to how he has this season in the minors. In 53 1/3 career big league innings, Mills has a 7.76 ERA, while he has a 1.56 ERA with Triple-A Nashville in 2014.
