What to Expect From Josh Reddick in Boston This Weekend

Just a couple of weeks ago, A’s fans were pondering whether or not Josh Reddick should even stay in Oakland, clamoring for his demotion to Sacramento. In the past 15 days, Reddick has proven that the brass in Oakland knows what they’re doing, compiling a .381 Average, 1 HR, 8 RBI and 7 Runs. He’s hot. RED hot. Now he gets to face the Red Sox at Fenway, a team he has had great success against the past couple of seasons.

Josh Reddick once roamed the outfield in Boston, but was shipped to Oakland before the 2012 season along with a handful of players for the likes of Andrew Bailey and Ryan Sweeney. Given Bailey’s injury history and Sweeney’s inability to hold down a starting job, this trade looks like another one of Billy Beane’s famous swindles. Josh Reddick had a breakout season in 2012, and played with a chip on his shoulder. He was finally getting a chance to showcase his skill set, and provided plenty of video evidence of why thou shant run on Reddick.

Yes, the power numbers are a bit down in 2013, but he hit for a higher average. Much higher than the .226 that he finished the season with. The simple fact is this: Josh Reddick will be a contributor in the lineup each time he faces the Red Sox.

What is it about the Sox that get him fired up? Is it because he really wanted to stay there and feels animosity towards them for letting him go? Is it because he wants to show them they were wrong for trading him? Or is it simply that he knows the players on the other side, and can attack them at their weaknesses? It really doesn’t matter, as long as he’s producing.
