Face of MLB: Sogard is in the Finals!

The results for Face of MLB have just been announced. Eric Sogard beat out Jose Bautista’s PR firm 52/48. Now he is up against the Mets’ David Wright for all the marbles.

Many A’s fans will be exhausted from yesterday’s voting, a handful of whom stayed up until 5AM when voting ended. It’s ok, folks. Rest up. It looks like tonight will be another all-nighter. David Wright is a great person. He is always smiling, and I have a hard time rooting against the guy. But for the next 23 hours, he is the competition.

Jose Bautista follows 174k people. He used follows as a way to bribe people to re-tweet his votes for himself. Eric Sogard sent out one tweet yesterday, and that was to talk about Josh Reddick’s amazing catches. His teammates however were not as silent. They were all over Twitter yesterday, gaining support wherever they could. MC Hammer and WWE’s Big Show even cast votes for Sogard.

Eric Sogard is an ideal candidate for Face of MLB. He plays the game hard, goes about his business the right way and has a connection with the fans. All tournament, folks have been tweeting pictures of Sogard with them at Spring Training or at FanFest. He is very accessible and the fans love it.

Again, all you need to vote is to take to Twitter. Type in the two hashtags #EricSogard #FaceOfMLB and that’s it! Every account gets 25 votes, so if your cat needs a Twitter, this would be the time to make one.

Good luck staying out of Twitter Jail A’s fans! It’s going to take our best effort yet to beat Captain America.
