A’s Defense Leads Majors In Errors

The Athletics now lead the majors with nine team errors through the season’s first four games. They also sit 3.5 games out of the division, as Texas is off to a blazing 5-0 start to the season.

Like the series against the Mariners this past weekend, errors hurt the A’s in yesterday’s contest against the Blue Jays, as the team committed two errors, which brought their season total to nine. 3B Kevin Kouzmanoff, who made 12 errors last season, has committed three errors this season. 1B Daric Barton, who had a superb defensive year last season, has also made three errors this season.

For a team that prides itself for having strong pitching and defense, the A’s have not started the season on the right foot. Offensively, the A’s looked good in Tuesday’s game against the Jays, but they’re 1-3 as a result of their error-filled ways.
