A’s General Manager Billy Beane To Speak At Fundraiser In Stockton

It looks like A’s General Manager Billy Beane will be quite busy this year between trying to put together a dream team for Oakland and dealing with his new  found celebrity status due to the motion picture “Moneyball” coming out in late summer.  Now, it seems that he is also on the public speaking circut as well. He will be speaking at the University of the Pacific’s annual Pacific Baseball Community night along with Lodi GrapeSox/Lodi Baseball Club player Hunter Carnevale on Febuary 3 at the Hilton in Stockton.

Lodi news.com is reporting that Beane will be the keynote speaker of the dinner and fundraising event and Carnevale, a former Pacific player and current Mets prospect will be presented with the San Joaquin Amateur Athlete of the Year Award. Franklin High School and Delta College graduate Eddie Guardado, a former Minnesota Twins pitcher, will be honored with the San Joaquin Professional Athlete of the Year Award.

This speaking engagement is not new to Beane.  He has various other interests outside of Baseball.  He has been on the Board of Directors at Silicon Valley Based Netsuite since 2007.  He also sits on the Board of Directors for a number of other companies such as Riddell, the official helmet company of the NFL and PROTRADE, a sports entertainment company.  Beane’s use of his knowledge about both the game and business management on a mathematical level has leveraged his power outiside of the dugout, a trait that is only going to gain momentum when the movie “Moneyball” makes its debut.

If you are interested in attending this event it will be offering different packages for table reservations, sponsorship opportunities and adult and children’s admission. Guest will enjoy a meal and have photo and autograph opportunities. There will also be raffles and chances to bid on sports memorabilia.
