A's Lose Bailey For the Year

While there’s only a week or so left in the regular season, the A’s bullpen will be even more depleted without their young closer, Andrew Bailey. This season has not been kind to the Athletics in terms of overall team health, as the A’s have lost players like Eric Chavez, Justin Duchscherer, Ryan Sweeney, Coco Crisp and Ben Sheets, to name a few, to stints on the DL.

This year for the A’s, Bailey recorded 25 saves to go along with a 1.47 ERA. Bailey also represented the A’s at this year’s All-Star game, and has been a big part of the A’s talented bullpen. The A’s young closer is set for a ‘cleanup’ in his elbow, and should be ready to pitch by spring training.

Currently 7.0 games out of first, the A’s hope to continue to keep their playoff hopes alive by dealing another blow to the Rangers, who are closing in on their first division title since 1999. The A’s know that their odds of making a miraculous comeback is slim to none—especially with a depleted bullpen—but they seem to keep marching right along…
