A’s Fighting Injury Bug

Not to say that the A’s have ever been a healthy team, but this is just getting ridiculous. The A’s recently placed IF Adam Rosales, who was hitting .271/.321/.400 with 7 home runs and 31 RBIs, on the disabled-list. Mostly starting in a utility role this season for Oakland, Rosales had been quite the surprise this year. In fact, I’ve stated that I’d take Rosales over Cliff Pennington, who’s hitting .260/.334/.376 with 2 home runs and 31 RBIs, in the infield. Rosales was acquired via trade with the Reds over the offseason primarily as a utility player to add depth to the team. The A’s hope to have Rosales back with the team as soon as he makes a recovery from his ankle injury.

Also fighting the injury bug is young prospect, Michael Ynoa. Ynoa, who received a $4.25 million signing bonus at just 16 years of age, will be undergoing surgery soon—reports the A’s official team site. For more on this injury, here’s an excerpt from the A’s official site:

"Although the extent of Ynoa’s elbow issues won’t be known until the time of the procedure, A’s assistant general manager David Forst said Friday that the club anticipates ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) reconstruction — otherwise known as Tommy John surgery, which typically requires more than a year’s worth of recovery time."

With August slowly coming to an end, the A’s find themselves in a tough spot in the AL West. The Rangers seem to have things locked up, and the recently injuries dealt to the A’s does not bode well for the green-and-gold.
