A’s Fighting Injury Bug

Travis Buck and Mark Ellis are already on the disabled list this year, and the A’s injury list could possibly expand even further. Today, catcher Kurt Suzuki and 3B Kevin Kouzmanoff were given the day off due to some lingering soreness. Also, today’s starter, Brett Anderson threw just 80 pitches before exiting due to a “tight elbow.” The A’s certainly do not need anymore injuries, especially since they’re doing well so far this season.

Anderson, who signed a new deal just last week, was pitching well before leaving after the sixth inning. The young ace has been a crucial part of the A’s stellar staff, and figures to be an important figure in this franchise’s future. The A’s should know more about Anderson’s injury as we move forward. Fortunately, the A’s have a ton of depth in the pitching department, and should be okay without Anderson for a few starts (if necessary). So for now, cross your fingers and hope for the best!

–Today’s 6-1 loss to the Tribe was a tough game to swallow. Anderson’s start was later lost in the bullpen’s fiasco of a performance. Hopefully next time the A’s ‘pen will keep the game in check.
