A's Averaging Less Than Half Stadium Capacity

Ray Ratto noted a disturbing statistic in his latest A’s Beat column for the San Francisco Chronicle:

One night after a sellout crowd for Rickey Henderson’s number retirement, the crowd for Sunday’s getaway match with Toronto was a more typical 13,070. The A’s, the only team in baseball drawing less than half its stadium capacity, are on a pace to draw less than 1,500,000, 35 percent fewer than they did just four years ago.
